Passports
General Passport Information
Every Paraguayan citizen is entitled to apply for a new, or to renew his or her current passport while
he or she is abroad.
- Consular Passport (light brown cover): may be renewed twice, for a period of 5 years for each renewal.
- Police Passport (blue cover): may be renewed twice, for a period of one year each time.
To apply for a new passport or request a passport renewal, please view the
Passport Application Procedures & Fees page.
Important Note
Please note, that in many cases it is more advantageous for Police Passport holders to apply for a
Consular Passport due to the longer validity period, and the fact that the associated application fees are
incurred only once for this extended time period.
Applying for a Consular Passport may be more convenient for individuals wishing to extend their stay in Canada,
or who intend to apply for various immigration privileges (such as residence, work permits, etc.), from Canadian
immigration authorities.
For information on how to apply for a new passport or request a passport renewal, please view the
Passport Application Procedures & Fees page.
